Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Silver City Cemetery.  A memorial is currently being established.

Mariann Simmons of Nelson, Missouri passed away July 5, 2024 at the age of 86, just shy of 87 years old at Golden Oaks Assisted Living Facility after a short battle with cancer and Alzheimer's.

Mariann Pullman was born August 8, 1937 to Marvin (Bud) and Celia (Childs) Pullman in Silver City, Iowa. Mariann graduated from Silver City High School in 1955. After high school, she worked in Council Bluffs at First National Bank while living with her Aunt Maragret. She met and married Merle Simmons on February 21, 1959 at the Sidney United Methodist Church. Two children were born to this union, Mark and Marcia.

Mariann loved baking and sharing her treats. You could always count on something homemade if you stopped by the house.  She had a huge garden and canned many quarts of green beans, tomato juice and salsa. She was also an immaculate housekeeper.    Anyone who knew her knew she loved to vacuum and wash windows. Most of all, Mariann loved being able to stay home while her two children were young.  The time she spent raising Mark and Marcia was her greatest accomplishment and passion.  She also loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother.

They lived most of their life in Farragut, Iowa where she worked for the school as a cook from 1972 to 1980 and then at  First National Bank in Farragut from 1980 to 2000 until her retirement. They then moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas on  Promiseland Road where they made a new group of friends. They spent their retirement days fishing, playing cards, traveling a bit, and maintaining their home and yard.  In 2015 they moved closer to Marcia due to Merle's health.  He passed on August 13, 2020.  In May of 2021, she moved to Golden Oaks Assisted Living outside of Marshall, Missouri where she resided until her passing.

Mariann was preceded in death by her parents and husband Merle. She is survived by her children; Mark (Teresa) Simmons of Shenandoah, Iowa and Marcia (David) Yount of Nelson, Missouri; grandchildren Jesina, Jared (Tiffany), AJ, Bret (Des), Dustin, and Jeffrey (Kerri); 10 great-grandchildren; sister Betty Lou (Marvin) Fulton of Isanti, Minnesota and brother Dick(Loraine) Pullman of Elma, Iowa. Close longtime friends Claudia and Chuck Brooks of Farragut, Iowa along with many other family and dear friends.
