Marian Louise Seddon, daughter of Paul and Edna (Grebert) Herzberg, was born on September 18, 1936, in rural Clarinda, Iowa. She passed away on Monday, October 9, 2006, at the Elm Heights Care Center in Shenandoah at the age of 70.

Her early life was spent in the Clarinda area where she attended school at Fulton Country School and later Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School before graduating from Clarinda High School with the Class of 1955. On April 19, 1959, Marian was united in marriage to James W. Seddon at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clarinda. Following their marriage they made their home in Shenandoah. Marian worked for Hy-Vee for over 15 years and worked seasonally for Henry Field's Nursery. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Shenandoah. Marian had a great love and appreciation for the outdoors. She enjoyed playing cards and most of all liked spending time with her family.

Preceding Marian in death were her parents; husband, James in 1994; brother, Dean Herzberg; and grandson, Brandon McIntosh. Survivors include her daughters, Doreen Hodges and Lori McIntosh and her husband Mike, all of Shenandoah, IA; sons, Paul Seddon and wife Theresa of Farragut, IA and Chuck Iburg of Williamsburg, IA; 11 grandchildren; one great grandchild; sister, Lorene Rossander and husband Leonard of Stanton, IA and sister-in-law, Cathy Herzberg of Omaha, NE; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services were held on Thursday, October 12, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. Words of comfort were given by Pastor Larry Boye. Casket bearers were Rodger Rossander, Gene Herzberg, David Helms, Alfred "Sonny" Grebert, Jeff Laabs, Dennis Sunderman and Kevin Wichman. Memorials are being directed to the family. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
