Obituary

Graveside services, following cremation will be held at a future date this summer at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church in Shenandoah.

Marian E. Hackett, daughter of Olive G. (Russell) and William W. Williams was born July 2, 1920 in Coin, Iowa, and died on February 22, 2014 in Gilbert, Arizona, following a brief illness at the age of 93.

Marian grew up in Coin, where she graduated from Coin High School. She was united in marriage with Fred N. Hackett on December 22, 1940. Following their marriage they made their home in Shenandoah except for a short period of time when they lived in Mesa, Arizona, where Fred was stationed with the U S Army Air Corps during World War II.

In June of 1951 Fred and Marian opened the Hackett Funeral Home, which they operated until retiring in 1978. To be near her family she moved to Mesa Arizona in 2005.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Altrusa Club, Business and Professional Women, Meta Grada Club and PEO Chapter JA of Iowa.

Preceding her in Death were her parents, two brothers, Erskine "Turk" Williams and Ivan "Brownie" Williams, One sister, Genevieve James and her husband Fred in 1990,

She is survived by her son Fred Hackett, Jr. and his wife Ginger of Gilbert, AZ, two granddaughters: Shawnette and Heather, and six great grandchildren: Emma, Riley, Maxwell, Brody, Charlie and Evan.
