Marian Elizabeth Creighton, daughter of Galbreath and Ola (Hatton) Creighton, was born on July 1, 1926 in Davies County, Missouri. She entered into rest on Sunday, August 10, 2008, at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 82.
Marian received her education in Coffey, Missouri where she graduated from Coffey High School. She had lost her father at the age of three and lived with her mom and relatives through her young life. At the age of 18, she moved to Shenandoah, Iowa where her mom was working. She found employment with the Bob Ross Insurance Agency, where she worked for many years before retiring. In Shenandoah, Marian was a faithful member of the First Christian Church, and Professional and Business Women's Club. She enjoyed bowling for many years. She always had a good word and a thank you to everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Maurice.
Survivors include her sister-in-law Virginia Creighton of Macon, Georgia, nephew Michael Creighton of Macon, Georgia and a niece Beverly Stewart and husband Robert of Macon, Georgia.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 14, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah. Words of comfort were given by the Rev. Karen Bash. Verdon Sorenson sang, "The Old Rugged Cross", "How Great Thou Art" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee". He was accompanied by Pat Larson on the organ. Attending the memory register was Mary Looper. Interment was in the Coffey Cemetery in Coffey, Missouri. Memorials are being directed to the Shenandoah First Christian Church in Marian's name. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
