Margery passed away peacefully at her home early Wednesday morning, August 28, 2013.

Margery Ann (Driftmier) Strom was born on February 2, 1921 in Clarinda, Iowa, the daughter of Martin Henry and Leanna Ruby (Field) Driftmier. Margery entered into eternal peace at her home on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Although she was born in Clarinda, at the age of 2, the family moved to California, where they resided for 2 years. The family then moved to Shenandoah where Margery attended school and graduated from Shenandoah High School. She continued her education at Iowa State University and then transferred to Northwest Missouri State University, where she received her Bachelors Degree in Education.

She taught school in Pella, Iowa for a year before moving to California to help her sister care for a new baby. While in California she worked for Lockheed in North Hollywood and later moved to San Francisco where she taught at a private school. In 1947 she returned to Shenandoah. On June 30, 1951 she was united in marriage to Oliver Strom at her parents home in Shenandoah.

Her mother started Kitchen Klatter in 1925, and Margery became very active in this syndicated radio program for some 30 years. One of her main contributions was the publication of the Kitchen Klatter Cookbook, which is a stable in many kitchens throughout the Midwest. She was a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder and was active in the Presbyterian Women's Group. Other organizations she belonged to included PEO, Daughters of the American Revolution, Kappa Delta Study Club and the Shenandoah and Nodaway Valley Historical Museums. She had a great love for her family, enjoyed reading, music and traveling. Margery wanted to remind us "learning is a life long process."

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Oliver Strom; son Martin Strom; siblings Howard Driftmier, Lucile Verness, Frederick Driftmier, and Donald Driftmier. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Johnson; brother Stephen Wayne Driftmier; grandchildren Gabriella and Elijah Strom; caregivers Darla, Dixie, Paula and Donna; other relatives and dear friends.
