Margaret Josephine Lang, daughter of Eldon Dale and Mildred Ann (Carlson) Spangler, was born August 15, 1932 in Elmo, Missouri. She passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Parkdale Manor in Maryville, Missouri. She was 83 years old.

After birth, Jo left Elmo, Missouri with her parents to travel with the U.S. Geodetic Survey. They returned to farm in the Elmo area. Jo attended Possum Walk Country School and graduated from Elmo High School with the Class of 1950.

Jo was a telephone operator in Elmo, Missouri and also worked at Hallmark in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Elmo, Missouri.

In June of 1961, she was united in marriage to Robert F. Lang in Miami, Oklahoma. They resided in Topeka, Kansas. In 1966, they relocated to Maryland and lived in Upper Marlboro until 2013. Jo enjoyed gardening, with a special interest in landscaping, beautiful flowers, trees and flowering bushes. She also enjoyed photography. She won many County Fair Photo Contests.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Mildred Spangler.

Jo is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert F. Lang of Maryville, Missouri; daughter, Lisa Lang-Costello of Portland, Oregon; step-daughter, Debbie Lang of Ashland, Oregon; sister, Sharron Ecker and husband Larry of Elmo, Missouri; many loving nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Burial will be held at the Lamar Cemetery in Elmo, Missouri.
