Obituary

Lynn Hough Baldwin, son of Rev. Sterling John and Gladys Marie (Holdridge) Baldwin, was born on May 22, 1939 in Waterloo, Iowa. Lynn passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at the Shenandoah Medical Center in Shenandoah, Iowa. He was 75 years old.

Lynn's early years were spent in several towns in Iowa including Rudd, West Union, Sanborn, and Monticello. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1957. After high school he attended and graduated from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa with a Bachelors of Science degree in January of 1961. While attending Buena Vista University he worked at Buntrock-Salie Photographer's Studio in Storm Lake, Iowa

Lynn was united in marriage to Muriel Kaye Rubsam on August 28, 1959 in Sanborn, Iowa. They started their married life in Storm Lake, Iowa until 1961 when they moved to Shenandoah, Iowa, to own and operate Stern Studio in Shenandoah as a professional photographer from January of 1961 to retirement in 2004.

After retiring, he pursued and received a degree in lay pastoring and did pulpit supply in many small churches in Iowa and surrounding area. He also served on several committees in the Missouri River Valley Presbytery for many years.

Lynn was awarded the Junior Chamber of Commerce Service Award in 1976. He served on the Board of the Professional Photographer's of Iowa and served all in all the Offices and became State President in 1979. He was also Editor of the Iowa Action. He served as Elder in the First Presbyterian Church and on many other committees.

Lynn loved to golf until the last few years. He also loved to referee volleyball, football and umpire softball and baseball for many years until the last couple of years he regretfully had to quit because of health reasons. His main passion, was fishing in the area farm ponds and at his "summer home" a/k/a daughter Becky and Mike's home at Farlington Lake in southern Kansas.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Sterling and Gladys Baldwin and sister Barbara Hirsch.

Lynn is survived by his wife, Muriel, of Shenandoah, and their children: Debbie Edstrom and husband Mike, Katy, TX, Susan Sleyster and husband Rick, Shenandoah, Becky Baker and husband Mike of Farlington, KS, 8 grandchildren, Sonja and John Armitage, Dallas, TX, Matt Edstrom and fianc Michelle Sicard, Denver, CO, Angie Guy and husband Matt, Bryan, TX, Jessie and Brian Kuehner, Houston, TX, Heather Sleyster and Kevin O'Meara, Omaha, NE, Luke Sleyster, Omaha, NE, Bethany Baker, Cedar Rapids, IA and Jordan Baker, Farlington, KS and two great-grand children, Jaxson and Ali Guy, Bryan, TX and a brother Ed Baldwin and wife Coni, Mountain Home, AR and sister, Dorothy Kingery and husband Elvin of Chattanooga, TN, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed the Presbyterian Church or Heifer International.
