Lucille (Kling) Bredensteiner, 86, was born on March 29, 1921 in Clarinda, Iowa to Harry and Mabel (Hardee) Kling. She passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2008. Lucille grew up in Clarinda and attended school there. She graduated with a teacher's certificate from the Normal Training course.

Lucille taught country school in East River Township at the Pleasant Hill school for several years. She was especially fond of helping children learn to read. Later she gave up teaching to work at the Clarinda Herald Journal.

In June 1947, Lucille and Emil (Slim) Bredensteiner were married at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Northboro, IA. They began their life together on the family farm near Westboro, Missouri. Their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Nancy Carol.

Lucille was baptized in the Methodist Church as a child. She later became a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she attended faithfully as long as her health permitted.

Lucille was preceded in death by husband Emil in 1980; parents; two brothers; Byron and Albert; and one sister, Marjorie. She is survived by daughter; Nancy Middaugh and husband Steven of Hamburg, Iowa; and her very special granddaughter, Kristine. Other survivors included nieces, nephews, friends, and her dog Lucky.

Lucille will be remembered as a kind and gentle woman who was always willing to help someone who needed assistance. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed her life on the farm. As a dog lover, she took in many strays and would drive out of her way to feed an abandoned dog.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 10, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Northboro, Iowa. Words of Comfort were given by Pastor Ron Nelson. Organist was Steve Richardson. "Jesus Loves Me" was rendered by Soloist, Teri Emberton. Congregational Hymn was "Children of the Heavenly Father". Mary Beth Bredensteiner and Sharon Brown were in charge of the Memory Register. Caring for flowers were Blu Dow, Karen Michel, Dallas Prather, and Marie Tiemann. Ushers were Terry Rolf and Steve Bredensteiner. Casket Bearers were Eddie Bredensteiner, Shane Bredensteiner, Tim Bredensteiner, Mike Hamilton, Trevor Whipple, and Mike Kling. Honorary Casket Bearers were Gerald Bredensteiner, Stanley Brendensteiner, Ed Christensen, Larry Christensen, and Charles Kolb. Interment was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Northboro, Iowa. Memorials in Lucille's name are being directed to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fairfax Community Hospital, and Page County Humane Society.
