Celebration of life funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 18, 2019 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at the funeral home. Lorraine's wishes were to be cremated following the services. Burial of cremains will be held at a later date at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. In lieu of flowers memorials may be direct to the family to establish a memorial in John's and Lorraine's name at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida.

Lorraine Marie (Benson) Mall was born August, 25 1934 to Elmer (Al) and Margaret (Clarke) Benson in Iowa City, Iowa and passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on July 11, 2019 at Hope Hospice, Cape Coral, Florida with her daughter Linda by her side.

Growing up in Omaha with her younger sister Shirley, they learned how to play together. They would ride the streetcar and bus to get to their grandmothers, and when they were 8 and 10 they took a greyhound bus by themselves to Des Moines to go to the Iowa State Fair with their great aunt. They became close again when they both moved to Florida after retirement.

A 1952 graduate of Benson High School in Omaha, Lorraine attended Ottawa University and Fort Hayes State College studying elementary education. At a church picnic in Benson Park in Omaha, Lorraine met the love of her life, John Mall. On June 23, 1956, Lorraine and John were united in marriage. To this union were born four children, LuAnn, Jerry, Jeff, and Linda. She was a stay at home mother while the kids were young. After their move to Morris, Minnesota, as the kids were getting older, Lorraine decided she would try the workforce. She worked as a substitute teacher, worked part time as a bookkeeper for a flower shop, and was a bookkeeper for a non-profit organization. After their move to Shenandoah, Lorraine started working full time for Fashions at Large clothing store and eventually moved into the manager's position.

Lorraine enjoyed spending time with her family, going on vacations, gardening, and watching her family grow. Some of her fondest memories were all the family trips to the cottage in Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada. She was an avid bridge player and played in many groups. Lorraine was very active in the Southwest Iowa Theatre Group. She started out backstage and worked all areas of the theatre. She enjoyed all the plays that she was involved in, whether on stage or directing.

Something that was very dear to her heart was when she did the "Children's Sermon" at the First United Methodist Church in Shenandoah, Iowa. "Jesus Loves Me," "Jesus Loves the Little Children," and "This Little Light of Mine" were her favorite songs to sing with the congregation as the children came forward.

Lorraine and John made many trips to see their children, grandchildren, and then their great-grandchildren. They also made many trips to Florida before moving there in 2002. Lorraine was a member of the Guiding Light Community Church in Fort Myers, Florida.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her beloved husband John, son Jeff, and sister-in-law Leola Mills.

Lorraine is survived by daughter LuAnn (Alan) Armstrong, son Jerry (Julie) Mall, and daughter Linda (James) Christiansen. Five grandchildren, Jon, Jennifer, Justin, Alexis, and Jeff. Five great-grandchildren, Jerry, JoAnna, Genna, Ethan, and Ellie. Sister Shirley (Don) Pemberton, sister-in-law Emma Haynes, brother-in-law Dwight Mills, along with many nieces, nephews, and a whole world of friends!
