Lorene "Laurie" Louise Jenkins, was born on November 10, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio and entered into rest on Thursday, September 15, 2015 at her home in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Laurie was the daughter of William Carroll and Florence Mae (Grant) O'Reilly. She was raised in the Cleveland, Ohio and later lived in Chicago, Illinois, and Kansas City, Kansas before moving to Shenandoah. She graduated from Saint Augustine Academy, 50 years ago in 1966.

She married Howard Edward Jenkins, Jr., on January 29, 1972 in Chicago, Illinois. She was employed in advertising all her life.

Laurie was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, and loved animals. She fostered cats and dogs for the People With Paws organization in Shenandoah.

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, a sister-in-law, Mary Ann O'Reilly, nephew, Michael O'Reilly, brothers-in-law, Thomas Hughes, Frances Hughes and William F. "Bill" Jenkins, mother-in-law Hazel Jenkins, and father-in-law Howard Jenkins, Sr.

Survivors include her husband Howard Edward "Ed" Jenkins, Jr. of Shenandoah, Iowa; sisters, Carol Hughes, Patricia Hughes, Florence "Flossy" Ott and Rita Webster; brother, Richard O'Reilly; sister-in-law, Llewlyn M. Thies; brothers-in-law, David Thies and Randall Jenkins; and many loving nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her beloved cats; Lucy and Cosmo and dogs; Maude, Daphne and Magel.
