Lois E. Ash, daughter of Charles G. Low and Mabelle E. (Nixon) Low, was born at Spirit Lake, Iowa on March 14, 1921. She died peacefully on Monday, November 6, 2006, at Omaha, Nebraska, surrounded by her loving family. Lois spent her early life in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She lived in many parts of the United States. She was the widow of William Ash of Blanchard, Iowa who passed away in 1986. Lois enjoyed 25 years as owner and operator of "Just Kids Plus" in Shenandoah. This resulted in her establishing many long term friendships especially with Janice Mick. On April 1, 2005 Lois retired.
Lois was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, gardening and bird watching. Lois' affinity for animals resulted in her adoption of many pets through the years.
Survivors include her children, Joseph W. Finnegan, Jr. and his wife Ramona of Panama City, Florida, Patricia E. Wray and her husband George of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Delores M. Craig and her husband Jay of Easton, Maryland, Sandra A. Long and husband James of Sun City Center, Florida, Margaret L. Gray and her husband Max of Shenandoah, Iowa, Perry J. Rosenthal and his wife Shawna of Los Lunas, New Mexico; eighteen grandchildren and thirty four great grandchildren.
Lois' wishes were to have her body cremated and have her ashes scattered by her children at a later time. A memorial "gathering" was held on Wednesday evening, November 8, 2006, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home. A time of remembering was held at 8:00 p.m. that evening.
