Lloyd L. Kirk, the son of James Guy Kirk and Willie Bernice McDonald Kirk, was born on July 12, 1937 and passed away at the Crawford County Hospital, Denison, Iowa, this past Friday, May 12, 2006. Lloyd grew up in Rock Port, Missouri, attending school there. After his schooling; he came to Shenandoah where he worked for Henry Field Nursery Company. On August 4, 1959 he was united in marriage to Marie Mutchler at Rock Port, Missouri. After their marriage, they resided in Shenandoah for a time, later moving to Rock Port, Missouri, where Lloyd worked for Missouri Beef Packers until it was closed. Lloyd and Marie then moved to Denison, Iowa, where he was employed at Midwest Industries as a press operator. He retired in 2002. Lloyd was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Rock Port,. He enjoyed playing pool, bowling, playing cards, and watching football.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Pauline Siddens and Ina May Siddens; seven brothers, Gene, Harry Dean, David, J.C., Robert, Charles, and Caroli Kirk.
Survivors include his wife Marie of Denison, Iowa; two daughters, Tracy Reit and husband Bill of Denison, Iowa, Holly Gruhn and husband Bill of Denison, Iowa.; a son Lloyd Lee Kirk, Jr. of Denison, Iowa; stepchildren, Sheila Barnhart of Shenandoah, Iowa, Kay Kalkas and husband Toby of Shenandoah, Iowa; a step son Ronald Ryan of Fairfield, Iowa; sister Margaret Heard of Yankton, South Dakota and a brother Claude Kirk of Galesburg, Illinois, eleven grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held on Monday, May 15, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. Words of comfort were given by Vaughn Livingston. Casket bearers were Brian Eldean, Kenny King, Gene Kirk, Joe Kirk, Curtis Siddens and Shane Siddens. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
