Obituary

Linda Anne (Coonce) Laughlin  daughter of James and Gloria (Vetro) Coonce was born on December 22, 1948 at Fort Leavenworth US Army base in Kansas and entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at her home in rural Mills County.

Linda grew up in various places due to her father's career service in the Army.  The family lived in many places including:  Germany, Georgia, Kansas, North Dakota, Illinois, and Hawaii and eventually settled in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  Linda graduated from high school Highland Park in Chicago, Illinois in 1967.  She worked as a nurse's aide at St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska prior to being united in marriage to Michael Laughlin at Queen of Apostles Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1971. To this union two daughters were born: Michelle and Kelly.

Linda was a devoted wife and mother.  She enjoyed supporting Michael and assisting with tasks on the farm and the daily duties of raising children and caring for their home.  Throughout the years Linda assisted with various duties of the St. Patrick Altar Society and taught CCD classes for several years.  She enjoyed sewing, baking, ceramics, and cooking for family dinners and celebrations.  One of her greatest joys was becoming a grandmother and great-grandmother.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Gloria Coonce, sisters:  Mary Ann Keefe and Cheryl Gray, and daughter Michelle Killilea.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 53 years, Michael; daughter Kelly and husband Jeff Willis of Shelby, Nebraska; grandchildren: Gregory (Tarkio, MO), Timothy, and Nathan Smith (Macon, GA), Jacob, Emily, Clare, and Aaron Willis (Shelby, NE), great-grandchildren Teagen and Paxton, sisters Anne Coonce, Liz Selman, brother Joe and wife Rhonda Coonce (Council Bluffs, IA), brother Jim and wife Tammy Coonce (Council Bluffs), as well as several nieces and nephews.
