Obituary

Leonard Ray Hutchison was born on December 22, 1927 in Shenandoah, Iowa, the son of Ray and Mary (Jackson) Hutchison. Leonard entered into eternal peace on Thursday, December 31, 2009 in Clarinda, Iowa.

Leonard's early years were spent in the Coin area where he attended school. He graduated from Coin High School with the Class of 1945. On August 7, 1950 he was united in marriage to Twila Ahrens. Leonard served his country with pride as a soldier in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953.

Leonard was a very busy man. He farmed his entire life, was a rural mail carrier for 42 years, and in 1967 bought the Dairy Queen in Shenandoah. Some of his interests, besides working, were collecting Dairy Queen and M&M memorabilia. He was also a member of the Coin United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Twila, parents Ray and Mary, mother and father-in-law Milton and Edna Ahrens, three sister-in-laws Sonja Ahrens, Colene Malmberg, and Rexine Burroughs.

Those left to honor his memory include his children Deborah Christianson and husband Dan and Cindy Anderson and husband Brent all of Shenandoah, Alan Hutchison and wife Denise and Brad Hutchison all of Coin; grandchildren April Binau and husband Josh, Amber Christianson, Chris Fichter, and Heather Hutchison all of Shenandoah, Cathy Lorimor and husband Chris and Rob and Erin Addy all of Farragut, Susanne Collins and husband Dustin of Tarkio, Casey Hutchison and Brianna Fuller both of Coin; great-grandchildren Cayley, Cain, and Camden Lorimor and Anthony Addy; a brother Darrel Hutchison; other family and many friends.
