Kathleen M. Anderson loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was born on June 9, 1929 in Massena, Iowa, and completed her earthly journey at home on March 5, 2011.

Growing up in rural Massena, Kay graduated from high school in 1947, having been a cheerleader in a graduating class of 12. She met her husband Ted while working in Creston at the Ford dealership, and the couple was united in marriage on November 10, 1951. To this union, two sons were born, Mike and Ken.

Always a pillar of strength for her family, she settled with Ted and their two sons in Garden Grove, California where she worked for the public school system while actively participating in a variety of school, church, and community organizations. Kay was active in the Catholic Church, served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, was a member of the PTA, and was always the number one supporter at Mike and Ken's athletic events.

Kay's family was the most important priority in her life, and after moving with her family back to Iowa, she began a long working relationship at the Shenandoah Medical Clinic where she is still known by the community as the center of all communications for the doctors, nurses, and patients of Shenandoah. She was an avid Mustang booster, a supporter of the AFS program, all while helping to instill family values in her sons.

Preceding Kay in death was her devoted husband Ted who passed in 2003. She leaves behind a large and loving family that includes her two sons and their families who continue to feel her presence and guidance; Mike Anderson and wife Sherry of Omaha, NE and Ken Anderson and friend Dyan Kelly of Chicago, IL; 8 grandchildren Jeff (Tarah), Jake (Steph), Josh (fiance Taryn Heishman), Jennifer, Cassie and Zach Anderson and Michael and Tim Stanek; 4 great-grandchildren Madelyn, Colton, Luke and Abigail; 2 sisters Pat Braun and Janie Opich from northern California; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of good friends.

Memorials may be directed to the St. Mary's Catholic Church or to the Shenandoah EMS.
