Karen passed away at her home on Wednesday morning. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Karen Elaine (Stogdill) Powell was born on November 22, 1945 in Thurman, Iowa, the daughter of Darrel and Eula (Baucom) Stogdill. Karen entered into eternal peace on Wednesday morning, September 18, 2013 at her home in Shenandoah following a brave battle with cancer.
Karen's early years were spent in Thurman and Imogene. In August of 1964 she was united in marriage to Donald Powell. This union was blessed with the birth of four sons Louis, Bradley, Brent and Donald.
During her working years, Karen was employed by Henry Fields, Mount Arbor, Blue Star, Good Samaritan Nursing Home and Vogel's Popcorn. She attended church at the Assembly of God and the United Methodist Church in Shenandoah. She enjoyed watching her soap operas, putting together puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 11 brothers and 2 sisters. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons Louis, Bradley, Brent and Donald; sister Leona Chaney; brothers Alan Stogdill, Dale Stogdill and Jack Stogdill; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
