JW "Jake" Anderson, son of Herbert and Nina Nesmith Anderson was born on January 7, 1933 in Clever, Missouri. J.W. passed away on September 27, 2015 at the Josie Harper Residence Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska. He was 82 years old.

He spent the first 15 years of his life in Clever, Missouri. He graduated from Shenandoah Junior High School in 1948. He graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1952. He worked at Brannen's Super Market in Shenandoah. In March of 1953 he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. After being honorable discharged from the U.S. Army in March of 1955 he worked at Lakes Nursery for many years. Following Lakes Nursery, he worked at the American Legion Golf Course as a maintenance worker for many years.

JW enjoyed sports, he was so good in selecting football game winners in Evening Sentinel's weekly contest, that he was no longer permitted to participate in the weekly contest. He won the Best Beard Contest in Shenandoah's centennial event.

He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Nina Anderson, sister Dorothy (Anderson) Regan, brothers-in-law Tom Regan and Woodrow Jones.

JW is survived by his sister Virginia (Anderson) Jones of Springfield, MO, nephews Ed Regan and wife Rosalie of Elkhorn, NE, Dan Regan and wife Donna of Greenville, SC, Charles Regan and wife Kim of Omaha, NE, and Greg Jones and wife Angela of Raleigh, NC, nieces Annette Scheib and husband Bruce of Iowa City, IA, Mary Kay Gee of Albany, NY, Rose Welchans of Imogene, IA, Connie Greenleaf and husband Steve of China, Myra Morgan of Avon, CT and Pam Jones-Camp of Palm Springs, CA, friends Bob Jackson of Shenandoah, Dave Ponton of Shenandoah and Calvin Kenny of Shenandoah, and many grand nieces, nephews and friends.

Burial of cremains will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah with military rites provided by Shenandoah American Legion Color Guard Post 88.
