Judy Marie Pace was born in Bakersfield, California on July 17, 1943 to John and Lillian (Hall) Pace. Judy entered into eternal peace on October 22, 2012 in Shenandoah, Iowa, at the age of 69 years.
At the age of two Judy's family moved to Shenandoah when her father was discharged from the Army. She grew up in Shenandoah and was a member of the graduating class of 1961.
Judy was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Judy had a great love for her nieces and nephews and enjoyed watching them grow up. She attended many basketball, softball, volleyball, baseball and football games that they participated in. Always going home with a sunburn after softball games.
Judy was a loving Mommy to her dogs. She loved her pets. Her new puppy J.J. is a real go-getter, as most of her family and friends will agree. And before J.J., her love of her poodles, Gunnar, Spike and Bridgett remained within her heart.
Early in life Judy enjoyed music and dancing, ceramics, fishing, riding horses and mushroom hunting. She also enjoyed her vacations with her sisters and family to Okoboji, South Dakota and Canada. Later in life Judy still enjoyed fishing when her health permitted and cookouts with family. She loved going to the casino and also eating out at El Portal with Karen, Joyce and Connie. Judy also enjoyed television, especially on football day with Iowa, Iowa State and Nebraska, mainly rooting for her Hawkeyes.
Judy was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the First Christian Church in Shenandoah.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Lillian Pace, sister Patty Pace, nephew at birth Troy Todd Berrier and brother-in-law Ron Slauter. Those left to cherish her memory include her sisters Joyce Slauter and Connie Berrier and husband Tom; nieces and nephews Reggie Slauter, Gina Slauter and Matt Tomkinson, Wendy Palmer and husband Lyle, Kim Burns and husband Randy, and Tommy Berrier and Ashley Dumler; great nieces and nephews Rachel Morton and husband Scott, Koreen Polsley, Brooke and Tori Burns, Tyler, Aaron and Regan Burns, Mikayla, Courtney and Katelyn Palmer, Nickolas and Lucas Berrier; great-great nephews Aidan Morton and Hayden Burns and many other relatives and friends.
We were blessed to have Judy in our lives and we miss her already.
