Joseph "Joe " C. Dinville, age 94 of Shenandoah, Iowa, was born on May 24, 1921, in Mills County, Iowa the son of James Francis Dinville and Agatha Mary Slater. Joe entered into rest on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Elm Heights Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Joe lived with his parents on a farm near the town of Imogene, Iowa until the age of 14 when the family moved to a farm near Randolph, Iowa. He attended and graduated from Randolph High School in 1939. In June of 1942, Joe entered the U.S. Army where he served during World War II in France and Germany, receiving the Bronze Star, being discharged in February 1946. He attended the Pratt Institute in Tulsa and New York. After the war he returned to the farm.

On April 7, 1948 he united in marriage to Janice "Eileen" Thomas at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shenandoah, Iowa. After their marriage they continued to live on the farm. In 1961 they moved to Minneapolis, MN. Where Joe worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier until his retirement in 1983 when they moved back to Shenandoah.

Joe was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, American Legion Post #88, Knights of Columbus, and Veteran of Foreign Wars. Joe enjoyed fishing, baseball, bowling and golf, he exceled at all of them,

Joe was preceded in death by his wife Eileen, an infant daughter Kathy Jo; his brothers and sister, Julius, George, Tony and Leo Dinville, Rose Stoneking, and a sister-in-law Nadine Kelsey.

Survivors include nieces and nephews; Julius Dinville children, Duane, Jerry, Martin, and Marvin Dinville; George Dinville children, Stephen Dinville, Vivian Howell, Thomas, Julia, Lisa, Diane and Andrew Dinville; Rose Stoneking daughter, Donna Stoneking, Leo Dinville children, Rodger, Pamela, Michael Dinville, Karen Lee, James, Joseph, and Teresa Dinville and Kristi Weber; Nadine Kelsey son, Kent Kelsey; along with many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews, relatives and friend.

Memorials may be directed to St. Mary's Catholic Church or Shenandoah American Legion Post 88.

Burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah with military rites provided by Shenandoah American Legion Post 88.
