Johnny Edward Blackburn was born on January 22, 1921 in Page County, Iowa, the son of Edward and Elizabeth (Harmer) Blackburn. Johnny entered into eternal peace on Friday, July 12, 2013 in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Following high school graduation, Johnny enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country during WWII in Germany. He drove various trucks for the Army. Following his honorable discharge he moved to Shenandoah.

On August 11, 1943 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Castle. The couple enjoyed 67 years of marriage before Dorothy's passing in January of 2011.

Johnny worked for the Iowa Highway Commission as a foreman for 36 years. He loved to build things and to paint and draw.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son John David Blackburn; his wife Dorothy and siblings.

Those left to honor his memory include his grandchildren Tony Blackburn and fianc Lori Harrows and their daughter Emma Blackburn and Tracy Klabunde and husband Todd and their children Cory Klabunde and wife Bridget and Brittany Klabunde.
