John Joseph Stibbs was born on July 11, 1945 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Wilton and Nora (Harrington) Stibbs. John entered into eternal peace on March 16, 2010 in Shenandoah, Iowa.

John was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. He attended Omaha Ryan Catholic Schools and graduated with the Class of 1963. While living in Omaha John was employed with Pepsi, the job that would bring him to Southwest Iowa.

After a long tenure with Pepsi, John owned and operated the Town and Country Tavern in Imogene and most recently the Shenandoah Can and Redemption Center. John enjoyed visiting with his customers and was blessed with many friendships that he made over the years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Imogene where he served as an Eucharistic Minister. The New York Yankees baseball team, horse racing, and spending time with his family were all top priorities to John.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Buzz, Jerry, Bob, and Jim "T.C." Stibbs; sisters Mary Ann Kritenbrink, Margaret "Sugar" Murphy and Theresa Hays; brother-in-law James Murphy; sister-in-law Roberta Stibbs and father-in-law Edward "Tex" McCoy.

Those left to honor his memory include his children Angela Stibbs of New York, NY, Matt Stibbs and wife Michelle of Alameda, CA and Bill Stibbs of Des Moines, IA; three grandchildren Marcus Stibbs of Norwalk, IA and Lincoln and Stella Stibbs of Alameda, CA; brother Tom Stibbs and wife Cherie of Omaha, NE; sister Dolores Murnane and husband Jim of Baton Rouge, LA; former wife and friend Becky Stibbs of Creston, IA; mother-in-law Regina McCoy of Norwalk, IA; brothers-in-law Ed McCoy of Norwalk, IA, Robert Kritenbrink of Knoxville, TN and Bert Hays of La Mesa, CA; sisters-in-law Michelle McCoy, Barb Stibbs, Marie Stibbs and Cathie Stibbs all of Omaha, NE: many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
