John Stanley Benjamin, son of Jack Stanley and Ruth Marie (Sims) Benjamin, was born on August 23, 1945 in Honolulu, Hawaii while his parents were stationed at Pearl Harbor. He entered into the arms of his Lord on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at his home in rural Sidney, Iowa, at the age of 69 years, 4 months, 29 days.

Growing up in Shenandoah John attended the Shenandoah Public Schools, graduating from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1964.

Following high school, John enlisted in the United States Navy on July 6, 1964. During his time in the service, he completed medical training in the Hospital Corps and Class "A" Field Medical School. He served two tours in Vietnam as a Corpsman attached to the Marines, beginning in 1965 until being honorably discharged on May 29, 1968.

In 1968, John started classes at Oklahoma State University, receiving his degree in 1971. After graduation from OSU, John came back to Shenandoah to run Shenandoah Printing/Rodeo Printers Inc. He bought the printing company from his parents. He ran Rodeo Printing for 33 years, from 1971 until retiring in 2004. Was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Williams-Jobe-Gibson American Legion Post #128 in Sidney and held many offices on the Sidney Rodeo Board, including Vice President.

He loved having his kids, grandkids and great grandkids come to the farm. John was a great fan of NASCAR and the NFL. He also enjoyed watching documentaries on the Civil War and about the building of the railroads. He loved to go house boating as well as taking trips over to the Mississippi river to watch the boats go up and down the river.

Preceding John in death were his parents; sister, LuAnn Benjamin; and grandparents, John and Vesta Sims.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy (Pat) Benjamin of the home; two children, Lori Stevens and her husband Jim and Todd Benjamin and his wife Deborah; five grandchildren, Teia Bergen and husband Joseph, Tyler Ellis, Piper Allen and husband Travis, Zach Ellis and Lucian Ethan Xavier Benjamin; three great grandchildren, Ben and Grace Bergen and Harper Allen; grandchildren's father and longtime friend, Wilbur Ellis; other relatives and many friends.
