John entered into eternal rest on Tuesday morning, January 26, 2021 at Mercy Hospital.

John Frederick Anderzhon, Jr entered this world on January 15, 1945 in Shenandoah, Iowa, the son of John Frederick, Sr and Jessie Marie (Hilton) Anderzhon.  Sadly, he exited his world far sooner than we would have wished on January 26, 2021 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Although gone from us physically, his legacy will still live on in many stories that will be shared around the lunch table for years to come.

John's entire life was spent in the community of Farragut.  It was in his early years that his passion for 4-H began.  Raising cattle and pigs to show at the Fremont County Fair were highlights of his summer as a youth.  He graduated from Farragut High School with the Class of 1963.  Following graduation, he attended Clarinda Junior College where he received his associate degree in 1965.  He later went on to attend Kansas State University and graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics.   John enlisted in the United States Army on November 27, 1967 and was swiftly sent to serve during the Vietnam War.  He returned from duty and received an honorable discharge on August 19, 1969.  He was a proud and dedicated Vietnam War Veteran.

The Rockbrook United Methodist Church in Omaha, Nebraska was the setting for his marriage to Patricia Viola Julius on May 26, 1973. This union was blessed with the birth of two sons Eric and Ryan.  The couple resided on a farm outside of Farragut until moving to town to John's mothers' home upon her passing. The couple enjoyed playing bridge, going out to eat, listening to music from the 50's and 60's, attending their boy's activities and later in life being grandparents!  John served as her loving and faithful companion until Pat's passing on June 16, 2017.  If you wondered about the love that John and Pat had for each other, just pull out your bible and read 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8, that was them.

John was a passionate and dedicated farmer, a career that he undertook once returning from Vietnam.  A career that would span 50 years.  He was dedicated to the 4-H organization where he held several different positions including Beef Superintendent of the Fremont County Fair for over 20 years.  In 2009 he was inducted into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame.  He served on the Farragut Cemetery Board, was a member of the American Legion, the Shenandoah Elks Lodge, and served as a committee member for the Danny Schnepp Scholarship Fund.

Collecting cars including convertibles was a fun hobby of John's.  He also enjoyed attending auctions, going to coffee, having lunch at the café, spending time with his family, playing cards, and being a part of the Farragut Community.  We will miss seeing his Ford Ranger cruising the streets of Farragut checking things out!

He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Jessie Anderzhon; wife Pat; in-laws Russell and Viola Julius and brother-in-law Jack Reynolds.  Those left to remember him include his sons Eric (Renae) Anderzhon of Las Vegas, NV and Ryan Anderzhon of Farragut, IA; grandchildren Jordan Anderzhon of Lincoln, NE and Cheyenne and Katelynn Anderzhon of Farragut, IA and Sadie, Zane and Nash Anderzhon of Las Vegas, NV; sister Judy (Larry) Lint of Tampa, FL; brother Jim (Janice) Anderzhon of Farragut, IA; sister-in-law Pam Reynolds of Papillion, NE; nephews Mat Young of Washington, DC and Brian (Jaclyn) Anderzhon of Story City, IA; niece Angie (Jon) Dozler of Urbandale, IA; special friend Linda Kisler of Omaha, NE; other family and a whole community of friends.
