Johanna McGargill, daughter of Paul and Wilma (Dunn) McGargill, was born on October 21, 1946 at Imogene, Iowa. She entered into eternal peace on Friday, January 25, 2013 surrounded by her family at her home in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 66.
Most all of Johanna's life was spent in the Imogene area. She attended grade school at St. Patrick's Academy in Imogene and graduated from Farragut High School with the Class of 1964.
Johanna worked for the United States Postal Service in the Imogene Post Office. She worked in the Post Office for over 30 years and was Postmaster at Imogene until its closing.
She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Imogene. She was also one of the charter members of the PMS Club. Of greatest importance to Johanna, was spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed reading in her spare time.
Preceding her in death were her parents; four sisters, Jean Gray, Yvonne Chase, Betty Pelster and Patsy Wzorek; and four brothers, Bill, James, Charlie and Steve McGargill. Johanna is survived by her two children, Robin Kessler and Pat Swanson and his wife Barb, all of Omaha, NE; six grandchildren, Regan and Riley Kessler and Connor, Devan, Ryan and Danielle Swanson, all of Omaha; Randy Kessler of Omaha; other relatives and many friends.
A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday morning, Jan. 30, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Imogene. The family will greet relatives and friends with visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah with Recitation of the Rosary service following at 7:00 p.m. Inurnment will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Imogene. Memorials are being directed to the family.
