Joanna Fern Androy, 82, of Shenandoah passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Accura Healthcare in Stanton, Iowa.

Joanna was born on January 13, 1936 in Dawson, MO, the daughter of Wayne and Freeland (Scaggs) Spurgeon. She was one of three daughters. She grew up in Dawson then moved to Farragut with her family in 1945. She graduated from Farragut High School with the Class of 1954.

On October 12, 1958 she was united in marriage to Jimmie Androy. Their son, Joseph Wayne was adopted on March 1, 1965, followed by Jerry Lee on October 3, 1967. The family made their home in Shenandoah.

Joanna was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an avid painter and loved gardening. She volunteered with the Shenandoah Garden Club for years. She enoyed spending her summers at Big Lake in Missouri with her family - water skiing, teaching other to water ski, riding on the pontoon, and painting.

She was preceded in death by her husband (Jimmie Androy), her son (Joseph Androy), and her parents (Wayne and Freeland Spurgeon). Those left to honor her memory include her son (Jerry Androy), her granddaughter (Paige Androy), and her sisters (Shirley Koch and Virginia Dennis).

The family will be having a Celebration of Life Gathering at the Waubonsie Room located in the Greater Shenandoah Historical Society Building from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018. This will be a time of refreshment and fellowship.
