Obituary

Memorial Graveside Services will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 12:30 p.m.

Jo Nell Mary Gleason was born on August 24, 1930 in Southwest, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Nellie (Martin) Gleason.  JoNell entered into eternal peace on February 13, 2022 at the Shenandoah Medical Center.

Jo Nell's early years were spent in the community of Northboro.  She graduated from high school at the age of 16 years.  She worked as a cook at the Midway Cafe and also waitressed in a local dining establishment in Shenandoah.  It was during her waitressing years that she met the love of her life, John "Jack" Kasper, Jr.  The couple was united in marriage on February 8, 1958 in Weller, Iowa. They were blessed with 58 years of marriage before Jack's passing on October 26, 2015. In her later years she worked as an administrative assistant at the Tarkio Academy during the evening.

Jo Nell and Jack farmed and raised animals on their farm in Northboro.  Jo Nell was a hard working farm wife and was up to completing any chore that was needed.  She raised show chickens and rabbits and at one time, even took care of some baby beavers that were displaced when their dam was destroyed.  Jack and Jo Nell also raised beautiful Percheron Draft Horses.  The couple had a great relationship with their neighbors and were willing to help anyone in need out.  Later in life they enjoyed traveling to various Civil War historic landmarks.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Carroll and husband Jack.  Those left to cherish her memory include several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
