James Fredrick Frye, 54, son of Charles Edward and Virginia Lee (Tishue) Frye, was born on March 27, 1952, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa, following a lengthy bout with leukemia.

His early life was spent in the Grand Rapids area. James later moved to the southwest Iowa area. He enlisted into the United States Marine Corps Reserve and was called to active duty for a short time at the end of the Vietnam War. On February 16, 1999, James was united in marriage to Paula S. Hebert at Carroll, Iowa. They made their home in Carroll until 2001 when they moved back to the Shenandoah/Essex area. James worked mostly in construction in the Carroll area and was employed by ABC Seamless Siding. Upon moving to Shenandoah he worked as a cook at the Country Inn Restaurant and at the Shenandoah Country Club until his health began to deteriorate. James enjoyed collecting baseball cards and Harley Davidson Motorcycle replicas. He also liked to watch WWF and WWE wrestling.

Preceding James in death were his father and brother, Charles. Survivors include his wife, Paula Frye of Essex, IA; five children; five grandchildren; and mother, Virginia McGargill of Imogene, IA; other relatives and many friends.

As per James' wishes there were no services following cremation. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah was in charge of the arrangements.
