Obituary

James LeRoy Dukeshier, the son of Cecil Henry and Mary Lousie Hummel Dukeshier was born on April 4, 1939 and unexpectedly passed away on October 24, 2016 at his home in Essex, Iowa he was 77 years old.

Jim was born and raised in Essex, Iowa and went through public school graduating from Essex High School in 1958. After he graduated from high school he attended and graduated from Midland College in Fremont, Nebraska where he played football, graduating in 1963 with a degree in science. Jim went on to receive his Masters of Science Education Degree from Northwest Missouri State University at Maryville, Missouri in 1970. He began his teaching career at Franklin, Nebraska, where he taught for four years, then moved to Sidney, Iowa where he taught for seven years, later teaching at Marcus - Meridan - Claghorn High School in Marcus, Iowa, Massena, Iowa; Council Bluffs, Iowa, Nishna Valley School, and Brunswick Missouri. He returned to Essex in 1982 where began working for Pella Corporation in Shenandoah, Iowa until his retirement after 20 years.

Jim was a member of the Essex Presbyterian Church attending at times the First Presbyterian Church in Shenandoah, Iowa; he was also a member of the Shenandoah Elks Club since 1965.

Jim was a avid reader and enjoyed spending time with his late brother John, going out to eat especially at buffets and going to movies; he especially enjoyed going to any type of ball game that was in season.

He is survived by his sister, Esther Welch and her husband Don of Salem, Oregon, brother-in-law Al Clough of Ellston, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved twin brother John, sister Dorothy Irens Clough, uncles Daniel Hammel and wife Verneeta and Clarence Dukeshier and wife Pearl and aunt Marjorie Franks.

Celebration of life funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home. No viewing will be held.

Burial will be held at the Essex Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Essex Presbyterian Church or Nishna Productions.
