Jack L. Wilson passed away December 19, 2013 at his home in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Jack LeRoy Wilson , son of Albert G. and Lois D. (Rhoads) Wilson was born at Shenandoah, Iowa Hand Hospital on June 23, 1938. Jack passed away early Thursday morning, December 19, 2013 at the age of 75 years, 5 months, and 26 days. This followed a lengthy illness, and he passed away at his home with his wife per his wishes. Iowa Hospice provided support in his final days.
Jack's early years were spent in Shenandoah where he went through all his years of school graduating with the class of 1956. He worked some summers at Mt. Arbor Nursery while going to high school. He attended a two year program in Commercial Extension in Omaha, NE where he specialized in accounting.
Returning home to Shenandoah, he began working at Henry Fields while living at home with his parents in order to save money to buy his first home. On June 10, 1961 at Farragut United Methodist Church, he was united in marriage to Julia A. (Judy) Hines. Jack and Judy spent their entire married life in or near Shenandoah. Three children completed their household: Lisa Annette, Kevin Lee, and Timothy Michael.
Jack worked a total of 24 years for Henry Fields as a merchandizing supervisor and in shipping and receiving. When Fields left Shenandoah, he worked a year and a half at Beecher's Chevrolet before beginning his job at Eaton Corporation where he worked for over twenty years. He was proud to receive a perfect attendance award at Eaton's for twenty years of service.
Jack and Judy enjoyed some bus trips as well as other travels on their own before his health kept them close to home. He played a little golf and especially enjoyed watching sports from his arm chair. Jack was a big fan of Nebraska Corn Huskers. His favorite past time though was spending time with family and enjoying his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jack enjoyed going to church and was faithful to go every Sunday working with the bus ministry, and serving as a deacon and treasurer at Memorial Baptist Church for years. He also used his accounting knowledge as treasurer of Jaycees. He served as a volunteer EMT on the ambulance service. In recent years, Jack has been a member of Nishna Valley Christian Church. Jack loved life and people. He had a hearty laugh that let others know he was around.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Albert G. and Lois D. Wilson: sister-in-law Carmaleta Wilson, and niece Marjorie Martin. Those left to cherish his memory include Judy his beloved wife of 52 years; children Lisa French and friend Dave McEvoy of Glenwood, Kevin (Chastity) Wilson of Midlothian, TX, and Timothy (Amy) Wilson of Bullard, TX; grandchildren Joshua Rodgers, Colin and Summer French, and Cory (Karly) Archer; step grandchildren Cody, Tristan, Cayden, Destiny, Jake, Bailey, and Zackory Evans: great grandchildren Kyrsten, Zeven, and Zakcory.
Jack is also survived by siblings Donald E. Wilson of Annandale, VA and Patsy (Charles Edward) Martin of Shenandoah as well as nieces and nephews Joel (Debra) Wilson, Wendi (Allen) Bridge, Brett Wilson, Kerri Wilson Vallela, Charles Martin, and Holly Martin. A host of other relatives, fellow employees, and close friends will miss Jack from a life time of living in the small town of Shenandoah.
