Iva Ida (Blanchard) Mascher, was born on August 26, 1912 to Lafe and Ida (Gray) Blanchard near Hopkins, Missouri. She passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2008, at the Goldenrod Manor Care Center in Clarinda, Iowa, at the age of 95.

She grew up at the farm near Hopkins, Missouri, later moving to Clearmont, Missouri and then to Conway, Iowa. Ida attended school at the Prairie View Country School, and grade school at Clearmont, Missouri and Conway, Iowa. She worked at the Earl May Seed Company in Shenandoah, Iowa in 1929 and 1930.

On January 31, 1931, Ida was united in marriage to Elmer Mascher from Shenandoah at the Methodist Church Parsonage at Bedford, Iowa.

They lived in Shenandoah, Hamburg and many years at Coin, Iowa. In February of 2004, she moved to the Eiler House in Clarinda. Recently she was moved to Goldenrod Manor due to illness.

Iva loved doing craft work, crocheting, embroidery work and making quilts. Iva's greatest love was music. At a very young age, she played the pump organ on the lap of one of her sisters, Maude or Hattie. She continued to play the piano until the last few days of her life.

Preceding Iva in death were her husband; parents; two sisters, Maude Glines and Hattie Bush; two brothers, Harley and Roy Blanchard; and a step-sister, Lulu Blackney. She is survived by nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 14, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah. Words of comfort were given by the Mascher family. Special music was "One Day At A Time", "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "In The Garden". Casket bearers were Richard Kline, Maurice Smith, LeRoy Morrison, Gary Glines, Chester Manchester and Ron Rope. Interment was in the Elmwood Cemetery at Coin, Iowa. Memorials in Ida's name are being directed to Coin Fire & Rescue or to the Coin Library. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
