Obituary

Irma Leva Sallee, daughter of Jesse and Leva Trulock was born September 2nd, 1919 at the family home in Northboro, Iowa. Irma died September 3rd, 2014, the day following her 95th birthday at District I Hospital, Faribault, Minnesota.

Irma attended Northboro public school graduating in 1937. On November 19th, 1938, Irma married Francis Sallee. They began their married life in a small farm house while Francis farmed with his father. During their 57 years of married life they lived on several other farms but always in the same general area. After her children were raised and with Francis's support, she started college at the age of 48, graduating in three years Summa Cum Laude from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Missouri. She then taught high school English for 10 years in Essex, Iowa and was the school librarian.

After retiring, she and Francis traveled to many places in the US and overseas. Highlights were riding a camel in Morocco, dogsledding in Alaska and several years ago riding with grandson in Alaska on his motorcycle. She had enjoyed this with son Bruce many years earlier. She volunteered many hours at the only all-volunteer library in Iowa.

She loved to teach, read, travel and spend time with her grandchildren who came to the farm in the summer to play games, read and be read to, go to Worlds of Fun in KC; ride bicycles up homemade ramps, walk the fence rails, shell corn, ride the pony and eat good cooking.

She was active in her Coin and Northboro church and was a District officer. In 2007, Irma moved to Faribault, MN assisted living to be closer to family. She became active in 4th Ave United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She purchased the books for the UMW Reading Program. She kept in touch with her family and friends in Iowa by emailing.

Irma was preceded in death by her husband Francis; sister Edythe Reed; grandson Sean Sallee and niece Norma Winn.

Irma is survived by three children, Joyce Buresh (David) Faribault, MN; Lorry Sallee (Lynn) Neshkoro, WI and Bruce Sallee (Elisebeth) Oshkosh, WI; five grandchildren and spouses; Kelly Jahn (Bill), Neosho, WI; Brenden Buresh (Karen), Eagan, MN; Garth Buresh, Palmer, AK; Shauna McCreedy (Sean), Oshkosh, WI and Erin Gietman (Dan), Oshkosh, WI; three step grandchildren Tom and Mike Albright and Darrick Mensch; twelve great-grandchildren, Jason Jahn (Hannah), Kirsten JahnGurske (Dan); Naomi Skulan (Nick); Jackson, Macey, Samantha, Tyler, and Justin Buresh; Gianna and Evan McCreedy; Jordan and Devyn Gietman, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Interment will be held at the Union Grove Cemetery in Northboro, Iowa
