Hyllis Lucille Cox, 91, of Chandler, Arizona, and formerly of Northboro, Iowa, passed away on February 26, 2007, in Chandler. She was born on November 30, 1915, in Carbon, Iowa, to Omar and Anna (Wildes) Pearce.

She attended country school near Blanchard, Iowa and graduated from Blanchard High School. Hyllis married Laverne Cox of Northboro, Iowa in 1935. They farmed there until 1966, moving to Chandler where they purchased a mobile home park which they operated a few years, sold and developed a second one, Evergreen Villa, which was the setting for annual Northboro, Iowa, reunions. The tenants were amazed at her hands-on approach, doing much of the maintenance and repairs, landscaping, replacing gas lines, etc. by herself.

Preceding Hyllis in death were her parents, husband, Laverne and granddaughter, Brenna Jean Cox. Survivors include her two children, Junior Laverne Cox and his wife Anne of Chandler, AZ, and Marjorie Milree Hart and her husband Duane of Arvada, CO; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Johnny Willcox and his wife Alberta of Osceola, IA, Bill Willcox and his wife Jeannie of Burton, MI, and Bob Willcox and his wife Ardis of Rushford, MN; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Friday, March 9, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at the Northboro United Methodist Church in Northboro, Iowa. Words of comfort were given by Pastor Carl Phillips. The eulogy was given by Kelly Hart. Pianist was Iva Jean Cutler. The Congregation sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace". Special music was "You'll Never Walk Alone". Casket bearers were Brian Cox, Jason Cox, Kelly Hart, Jeff Hart, Danny Lawrence and Bob Hutcheson. Interment was in the Union Grove Cemetery in rural Northboro. Memorials are being directed to the Union Grove Cemetery Improvement Fund. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah was in charge of the arrangements.
