Helena passed away on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 at the Grape Community Hospital.
Burial will follow the services in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in rural Riverton, Iowa.
Helena E. (Briley) Garrett was born on October 10, 1919 in Sidney, Iowa, the daughter of Scott and Helen (Jackson) Briley. Helena entered into eternal peace on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, Iowa.
Helena resided in Fremont County for the majority of her life. She graduated from Sidney High School. In 1939, she was united in marriage to Clinton L. Garrett in Sidney, Iowa. To this union four children were born; Larry, Chris, Patricia and Donna.
Clint and Helena enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling. They resided in Arizona for the last 10 years of their married life. During her working years, she did seasonal work for the various nurseries in the area.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson Gary Dean Garrett; daughter-in-law Carolyn Garrett; sister Alma Lyvers; son-in-laws Jim Devers and Ray Straw; sister-in-law Louise Briley; and daughter Donna Goehry.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children Larry Garrett and wife Beverly of Branson, MO, Chris Garrett and wife Judy of Pleasantville, IA and Patricia Straw of Ruthven, IA; son-in-law Max Goehry of Milpitas, CA; brother Marlin Briley of Council Bluffs, IA; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
