Obituary

Harriette Elaine (Roscoe) Latimer daughter of Lee and Blanche (Shunick) Roscoe was born January 12,1922 on a Walnut Grove farm in Fremont County, Iowa She passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 2 months and 25 days.

Harriette graduated from Shenandoah High School and after high school she went to work for the First National Bank of Farragut. During World War II she was a receptionist and bookkeeper at Arden's Dairy in Los Angeles, CA. From 1945 to 1965 she was a receptionist and bookkeeper for Turnbull Brothers Chevrolet in Farragut. During 1967 and 1968 she served in the same capacity for Robert Morris College in Carthage, Illinois. From the 1970's until her retirement at age 80 in 2002 she worked as bookkeeper and cashier for First National Bank in Farragut. In 1990 she was chosen by the Board of Education to serve as Treasurer of the Farragut Community Schools. She was active in the Southwest Iowa section of the National Association of Bank Women, she served as secretary and treasurer of the Southwest Iowa Bankers Association.

On June 2, 1946, Harriette was united in marriage to Lyle B. Latimer at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shenandoah. To this union four children were born Gary, Mary, Sherry, and Larry. They were active members of the Farragut community for 58 years. Harriette was also an active member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church of Shenandoah for many years. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting and all types of sporting events.

Harriette was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, brother Jack Roscoe, sisters Helen Laughlin, Mary Kay York, Martha Ann and Maureen Roscoe.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children Gary Latimer and wife Janet, of Lincoln, NE, Mary Holbrook and husband Jerome of Tucson, AZ, Sherry Honnold and husband Paul of Clarinda, IA, and Larry Latimer and wife Deborah, of Topeka, KS, sister Mildred Greedy, of Wenatchee, WA, grandsons Douglas Latimer, Jason Latimer, Brad Honnold and wife Sara, Brian Honnold and BJ Honnold and fianc Whitney, great-grandchildren Ali, Ashton, Arik and Asa Honnold, several nieces and nephews, other family and friends.

Memorials may be directed the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shenandoah, Iowa.
