Guy Edward "Sonny" Dailey, Jr. was born on November 5, 1944 in Clarinda, Iowa the son of Guy Edward and Doris (Welch) Dailey. Sonny entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at his home in Shenandoah.
Sonny lived in the community of Clarinda where he attended school until the age of 16 when the family moved to Shenandoah. As a young man, Sonny helped his uncle train horses at Aksarben in Omaha. He later joined the National Guard where he served for a short time.
On April 26, 1968 Sonny was united in marriage to Lou Ann Gibson at the First Baptist Church in Shenandoah. The couple resided in Shenandoah. While living in Shenandoah Sonny worked for Mount Arbor Nursery Company and later as a hired man for Jim O'Hara until his retirement.
Some of Sonny's passions included working with horses, watching John Wayne movies, and doing handy work. Sonny was a big hearted person and enjoyed the many friendships he made while living in Forest Park Manor.
He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife Lou Ann who passed away at October of 2000.
Those left to honor his memory include his two sons Bob Gibson and friend Liz Marshall of Emerson, IA and Jesse Gibson and wife Shelly of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren Ernie Gibson of Gravity, IA, Beth Gibson of Red Oak, IA, Andrew Bump of Lincoln, NE, Ashley Turek and L.J. Marshall both of Emerson, IA, Calle Gibson of Marysville, KS and Amber, Heather, and Chris Walters all of Shenandoah, IA; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Vest and husband Paul of Lawton, OK and Ida Strange and husband Robert of Shenandoah, IA; brothers Wendell Dailey and wife Shiela of Shenandoah, IA and Larry Dailey of Clarinda, IA; brother-in-laws George Gibson of Shenandoah, IA, Ron Gibson of Texas, Ed Gibson and Don Gibson both of Shenandoah, IA, and Harlen Gibson of Maryland Heights, MO; other relatives and friends.
