Glennys Marie Anderson (Newman) died unexpectedly at her home on April 12, 2016 in Essex, Iowa at the age of 77.

Glennys was born on July 7, 1938 in Red Oak, Iowa to Violet (Linder) and Walter Newman. She graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1956. She married Edward Anderson in 1956, they later divorced.

Glennys was a hard worker. She was a lifelong farmer raising a variety of animals and managing cropland at the home where she grew up. She worked for Earl May Seed and Nursery Company in the I.T. department from which she retired in August 2015 after 37 years of employment. She worked for Hy-Vee grocery store for approximately 10 years and several other jobs while her children were growing up. Many people loved her baking for which she made hundreds of cakes, cookies, pies, rolls, etc. She was passionate about her flower beds and was most content being outside working in them or tending to her cattle and kitties.

Glennys loved her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed having more time for the youngest, Steele and Jagger, with whom she had the pleasure to babysit regularly and spend time with when visiting the farm. The cookie refrigerator was a favorite for them and the granddogs.

Every holiday and birthday was a special occasion for all to gather and enjoy. She loved hosting family gatherings and also entertaining club members and other guests. She was always prepared with plenty of food and hospitality to have a house full of guests.

Glennys is survived by her children Nancy (John) Kripal of Silver City, Iowa; Annette (David) Brown of Boone, Iowa; Brenda Quesada of Westminster, Colorado; Dan (Julia) Anderson of Shenandoah, Iowa; Angie (George) Shaw of Shenandoah, Iowa; and Shannon (Randy) Hilker of Shenandoah, Iowa; her adored grandchildren Steele, Jagger and Ian Hilker, Carissa and Amanda Brown, Marissa Anderson, Steven Braymen, Chelsea and Chad Quesada, Jessica Kuntzweiler; great grandchildren Hazil Quesada, Avery and Graceyn Quesada; and Dakota, Gracie, and Levi Kuntzweiler; many extended family members and her household companions Snoopy, Lucky and Fuzz. She was preceded in death by her parents Violet and Walter Newman and sister Karen Clark.

The love Glennys shared in all that she did will be greatly missed by so many.

Burial will be held at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Nyman.
