Gladys Covault's Obituary
Gladys was born on May 17, 1921 in Fremont County, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Martha (Hobson) Reed. Gladys entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 9, 2009 at her home in Shenandoah.
Gladys attended country school until her family moved to Shenandoah in 1929. She then attended Shenandoah Community Schools and graduated with the Class of 1941. On October 2, 1942 she was united in marriage to Milton Wilson. The couple was later blessed with three children, Patricia, James, and David. Milton passed away in 1966. Gladys continued to live in the Shenandoah area. Gladys later found happiness again, when she was united in marriage to Norman Covault on June 29, 1974. The couple was blessed with 35 years together.
During her working years Gladys was employed by JC Penney's for 10 years and later at the Shenandoah Hospital where she worked for 25 years. She cherished the friendships that she made during her working career. Gladys was a dedicated and loving wife and mother. She was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church where she was always willing to lend a helping hand. Some of Gladys' interests included dancing, playing cards, socializing at the Senior Center, traveling, and entertaining. She always enjoyed having the family over for dinner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Milton, brothers; Claude, Roy, and Harold, sisters; Martha Belknap, Marguerite Snodgrass, Betty Thomas, and Nell Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Norman of Shenandoah, IA; children; Patricia Allen and husband John of Avon Lake, OH, James Wilson and significant other Ana McCrory of Phoenix, AZ, and David Wilson and wife Bambi of Council Bluffs, IA; stepdaughters; Barbara Durbin and husband Gary of Kimberling, MO and Linda McIntyre and husband Mac of Omaha, NE, grandchildren; Reed Allen and wife Lori, Risa Allen, Laura Rankin and husband Craig, Dan Duffey and wife Margo, and Mariana and Natila McCrory, step grandchildren; Bradley Durbin and wife Trish, Jason Durbin, Brandon Davis and wife Estella; several great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Memorials may be directed to the Presbyterian Church or the Shenandoah Senior Center.
