Obituary

Georgine Marie Johnson age 78 of Essex, Iowa was born on February 3, 1937, in Mulberry, Kansas and passed away unexpectedly on January 22, 2016 in Midland, Texas.

Georgine, the daughter of John and Lena (Falletti) Ciet, was raised in rural Mulberry, Kansas. She attended country school, later attending Arma High School where she graduated in 1954. After graduation she attended Pittsburg State University graduating in 1958 with a BS Degree in Education. After graduation she taught school at Hickman Mills School District in Kansas City, Missouri, where she taught Home Economics from 1958-1964. She was united in marriage to Phillip Johnson in Kansas City, Missouri on August 5, 1961. After their marriage Georgine continued to teach until 1964 when she became a full time wife and mother, raising their two girls. In 1970 she and Phil moved to Clarinda, Iowa. In 1975, Georgine was one of the first office employees at Hoover NSK Ball Bearing Corp. working until her retirement as Purchasing Agent Supervisor in 1999. Georgine and Phil moved to rural Essex in 2000. They celebrated 54 years of marriage this past August.

Georgine was active in Essex Community Study and Service Club, Lied/Essex Public Library Board, St. John's Lutheran Church, Essex, IA and St, John's Lutheran Church of Clarinda, IA, where she was a choir member, taught Sunday School and participating in Bible Study Groups while living in Clarinda.

Her special interest and hobbies included playing golf, she was an avid bridge player, loved to read, sew and quilt. She enjoyed traveling and was able to visit her country of ancestry, Italy and France with her mother and sister. Through NSK she was able to travel to Japan. She and Phil also traveled and visited many of our states.

Georgine was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lena Ciet. Survivors include her husband Phillip of Essex; two daughters, Jonna Clifford and husband Stephen of Mission KS, and their children, Sarah, Colton and Jillian Clifford of Mission, KS; Anne Resty and husband Michael of Columbus, GA, and their children Michael Resty of Ft. Hood, TX, Nathan Resty of Ft. Collins, CO, stepson Nick Resty of Birmingham, AL, and Tyler Resty of New York City, NY; a sister Connie Hughes and husband Dick of Glendora, CA; brother-in-law Dick Johnson of Flint, MI; nieces, nephews and cousins.

"She touched countless lives through her volunteering, making quilts, contributing to the food banks, reading to elementary children and tutoring children."

Memorials may be directed to the Essex Library or Shenandoah Food Bank.

Burial of cremains will be held at the Essex Cemetery in Essex.
