Obituary

George Tweedy Lane, Jr. was born on February 10, 1936 in South Sioux City, SD, the son of George Tweedy and Mable Larilda (Kester) Lane, Sr. George entered into eternal rest on April 17, 2010 at the Shenandoah Medical Center following a brave battle with cancer.

George attended school through the 5th grade, and then went to work, in an effort to help support his family. He taught himself how to read by looking through comic books.

On May 20, 1956 he was united in marriage to Bonnell Marie Gray in Bethany, Missouri. This union was blessed with the birth of two daughters Lorraine and Marilyn. On May 23, 1975 he was united in marriage to Wava Darlene Hill in Maryville, Missouri.

During his working days George was employed by Mt. Arbor Nursery, did carpentry work for Bill Bateman, work for Chuck Gee Construction, Hallet Construction, and the City of Shenandoah in the Street Department. He also maintained a very successful wood cutting and small engineer repair business.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, spending time in the timber cutting wood, gardening, mowing, and dancing. Every now and again he would enjoy an occasional beer. He enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren and riding bikes with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Darlene, and several brothers. Those left to honor his memory include his daughters Lorraine "Lorrie" Murphy and significant other Ed Von Dielingen of Villisca, IA and Marilyn Bucy and husband Darrell of Osceola, IA; 5 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
