Frances Jane Martin, daughter of Michael and Anna (Saner) Dempsey, was born in Imogene on August 21, 1914. Frances entered into the arms of her Lord at her home on November 1, 2012 surrounded by her family.

Frances grew up in Imogene and graduated from St. Patrick's Academy. She married John Thomas Martin on June 19, 1939 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Imogene.

Frances was a life long member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She took care of the alter linens and flowers at the church. She served as an officer as a member of the Altar Society. For many years she played the organ for church. She taught CCD for decades until she taught her last grandchild. In 1997, Frances was awarded the Papal Award from Pope John Paul II in virtue of her illustrious works and marvelous deeds for the church.

Frances loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She made quilts for all her grandchildren for graduation and weddings. Frances enjoyed playing the piano at family sing-a-longs. In her 80's she painted the St. Therese and Nativity statues for the church.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband John ThomasMartin, sons Dominic (Dee) Martin, and Gerard Martin, her parents, grandson, Dominic Martin, sisters Mary Dempsey and Monica O'Connor, and brothers Michael Dempsey and Jim Skahill. Those left to cherish her memory are her children Mary Anne Johnson and husband Dick, Mike Martin and wife Barb, John Martin and wife Peggy, Janie Brannen, Tony Martin and wife Terrie, and Therese Sunderman and husband David, 35 grandchildren and 64 great-grandchildren.
