On January 7, 1927 in Hamburg, Iowa, a daughter, Fonda Faye was born to Edward and Ruby (Garrett) Pelster.  Fonda passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at the Maryville Living Center in Maryville, Missouri.

Fonda's early years were spent in the areas of Northwest Missouri and Southwest Iowa.  She graduated from Burlington Junction High School.  On December 7, 1946 in Troy, Kansas she was united in marriage to Bert Shipley.   The couple made their home in Burlington Junction before moving to Shenandoah, Iowa.   This union was blessed with the birth of four children.   Bert and Fonda shared 77 years of marriage.  Their devotion to one and other was admired by all who knew and loved them.

Fonda was a devoted mother and dedicated wife.  She lovingly cared for her family all of her life.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her much joy.  She enjoyed crocheting, walking, camping and fishing.  She was also a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Shenandoah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Debra in infancy; son James Shipley; 4 brothers and 1 sister.  Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband Bert Shipley; daughter Linda Linebaugh and husband David of Hopkins, MO; son Jeffrey Shipley and wife Marcia of Ankeny, IA; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wabash Memorial Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.  The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services.  Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Shenandoah.
