Ervin Enos Bostwick, Jr. was born on February 18, 1921 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the son of Ervin and Eva (Leavitt) Bostwick, Sr. Ervin entered into eternal peace on Sunday, July 5, 2009 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Ervin spent his early years living in Council Bluffs and Honey Creek, Iowa. In 1938 he earned his GED and enlisted in the United States Navy. He began his military career by serving on the USS New Orleans from 1938-1945, followed by attending diving school from 1945-1946, the USS Blue Bird from 1946-1948 and the USS Coucal from 1948-1950. On September 1, 1950 he was united in marriage to Virginia Foster in San Bernardino, California. The couple traveled the world together while Erwin continued his career with the military. He served in Cherry Point, North Carolina in 1950, the USS Semmola from 1952-1954, followed by serving in the US Naval Station in Honolulu, Hawaii from 1954-1958, to the USNRS in Omaha from 1958-1961 and he spent his final month in Great Lakes, Illinois. Following his retirement from the Navy, Ervin worked for the United States Postal Service from 1961-1972.
He was an active member of the First Christian Church in Shenandoah where he served as an Elder, a Deacon, and participated in various church functions. He was also a member of the Postal Workers Union and the Pearl Harbor Masonic Lodge.
Ervin enjoyed working with leather, gardening, vacationing in Rock Port, TX with his wife, and playing cribbage. Other passions of Ervin's included fishing, tending to his birds and dogs and dancing to "Big Band" music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia Maye Bostwick, brothers Jerry and Shirley Bostwick and sister Elaine Kasmalla.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter Connie Foster; sons Charles "Paul" Bostwick and Jim Bostwick; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home with Rev. Karen Bash officiating. Jane Foster attended the memorial register and Phyllis Morelock cared for the flowers. Pat Larson played the organ while Carolyn Steinbrink sung "In The Garden" and "Just a Closer Walk With Thee", the congregation joined in singing "All That I Need". Honorary Casket Bearers included James Kenneth Bostwick, Charles Paul Bostwick, Elbert Foster, Tom Berrier, Don Morelock and Matt Kloberdanz. The members of the United States Navy Funeral Honor Detail served as casket bearers. Burial followed at the Locust Grove Cemetery with complete military rites conducted by the United States Navy and the Shenandoah American Legion Post #88. Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church.
