"Ernie" Adwell, Jr.

Ernest "Ernie" C. Adwell, Jr., of Kansas City, Missouri, was born in Shenandoah, Iowa on December 27, 1950 to Ernest Cline Adwell, Sr. and Edith Grace (Williams) Adwell. He passed away on February 10, 2023 at him home in Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 14 days.
While in high school he worked in the summers at Mt. Arbor Nurseries. In 1969 he graduated from Shenandoah High School where he played saxophone in the marching and jazz bands.
After graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force for six years. After being honorably discharge, he then moved to St. Joseph, Missouri where he attended and graduated from Missouri Western State University with a major in computer science and two minors in business and mathematics.
Ernest worked for the water company in Kansas City, later at American Century and for a number of years in the water treatment department before retiring.
His biggest hobbies were going places on his Harley and gardening. He enjoyed music and worked on learning new things. He was a 35 year friend of Bill.
Ernest was preceded in death by his father on February 21, 2000, his mother on April 27, 2014, two sisters Mary Ruth and Martha Rose on January 26, 1946, another sister Carolann on January 30, 2015, his grandparents Jeff and Priscilla Williams and Ernest and Susie Adwell, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Left to cherish his memory include his sister Suecilla Adwell of St. Joseph, Missouri. He is also survived by cousins across the country and many friends in Kansas City and St. Joseph, Missouri.
Fly high little brother and watch over your big sister who is so proud of the many good things you did for her and others. You will be greatly missed.
Graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 17, 2023 at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah with military rites provided by the Shenandoah American Legion Color Guard. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2023 at the Wabash Memorial Chapel in Shenandoah. Memorials may be directed to the Shenandoah Food Pantry.
