Elizabeth Mae (O'Hara) Lindburg, daughter of Joseph, Sr., and Elizabeth (Clerke) O'Hara, was born on January 30, 1909, on the family farm in Grant Township, Page County, Iowa. She passed away on Monday, October 22, 2007, at her home in Shenandoah, Iowa, at the age of 98.

Betty attended Science Ridge Country School through the eighth grade at which time she was named the county-wide valedictorian. She then attended and graduated from Shenandoah High School. On January 1, 1944, Betty was united in marriage to Fred Lindburg at the Shenandoah Episcopal Church. Following their marriage they made their home at her current residence of 310 West Street in Shenandoah. Betty was a well respected secretary for various businesses in Shenandoah. She was very active in the Eastern Star. Betty sponsored Rainbow girls at the local and state level. She always recognized "her Rainbow girls". Betty contributed to the following organizations: Civic Music and Garden Club. She also supported the national effort to restore the bluebird habitat in Iowa. As a child, she attended the Shenandoah Episcopal Church. After marriage, she and Fred were both active in the First United Methodist Church. She is well remembered for decorating the church at Christmastime. Betty's interests were many and varied. She painted, gardened, decorated and enjoyed entertaining. Her recipe files are extensive. She was often sought out as a creative event decorator. Fashion was her flair.

Preceding Betty in death were her parents; husband, Fred Lindburg; and brothers, John and Joe O'Hara. Betty was the last generation of O'Hara's. Survivors include her nephew, James O'Hara of Shenandoah, IA and niece, Mary Ann O'Hara of Denver, CO; their spouses; six great nieces and nephews; four great-great nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Her family and friends will miss her strong, independent, creative, lovable "Irish demeanor".

Celebration of life funeral services were held on Thursday, October 25, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Shenandoah. The Rev. James Gubser gave the words of comfort. Soloist was Stan Orton and organist was Becky Hoenshel. Attending the memory register were Onalee Czapla and June Greenwalt. Ushers were Darrell Jones and James Sligar. Casket bearers were Patrick O'Hara, Jay Muller, Sean Tomb, Brandon Cox, Bennett Cox and Barrett Cox. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah was in charge of the arrangements.
