Eleanor Irene Harms, daughter of Ray and Flava (Seybert) Wright, was born November 24, 1927 in Dunbar, Nebraska. Eleanor passed away Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa.

Eleanor spent her early years on the farm south of Dunbar, Nebraska. She graduated from Dunbar High School with the class of 1945. She enjoyed playing volleyball in high school.

Eleanor was united in marriage to Glen E. Harms on June 14, 1949 in Dunbar, Nebraska. Their married years were spent in Shenandoah. The last four years of her life were spent at Red Oak Rehab Center in Red Oak, Iowa.

Her working life (over 25 years) were spent at Kitchen Klatter magazine. In her early life she was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Dunbar, Nebraska. As an adult she attended the Southern Baptist Church and later she and Glen attended and were baptized at the Methodist Church in Sidney, Iowa.

Most of her time was spent caring for her family and following her children's and grandchildren's activities. In her spare time she enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, gardening, doing puzzles and going with friends to garage sales. She also spent significant time caring for neighbors' needs when she was able to do so. She loved to play practical jokes on those she loved. She had a witty sense of humor and loved to laugh.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband Glen E. Harms; her parents Ray and Flava Wright; and brother, Richard Wright.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jarrett Harms and wife Jackie of Shenandoah, Iowa; daughter, Marla Worthington and husband Joe of Red Oak, Iowa; grandson, Jason Harms and wife Michelle of Eugene, Oregon; granddaughter, Amanda Wiltz and husband Chad of Iowa City, Iowa; four great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Isabella Harms and Jada and Jackson Wiltz; sister, Duane Rounds of Tampa, Florida; two brothers, Don Wright and wife Irma of Lincoln, Nebraska and Jim Wright and wife Shirley of Dunbar, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Zena Wright of Nebraska City, Nebraska; many cousins, neices, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah.

Memorials in Eleanor's name are being directed to either the Activities Fund at the Red Healthcare Communities or to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter.
