Eldon Lloyd Bartles was born June 22, 1933 in Shenandoah, Iowa to Willis and Tressa (Aide) Bartles. He passed away June 24, 2008 at Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa at the age of 75.

Eldon lived in Shenandoah all his life. He graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1951 and was then married to Margy Moates in Bedford, Iowa on December 23, 1951. The couple made their home in Shenandoah.

Eldon worked at several local restaurants before opening and owning the Matador Lounge. He also owned and operated several farms in the area. He loved working in his yard and gardening. Eldon was a member of the Shenandoah Elks Lodge and First Christian Church.

Eldon is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Tressa Bartles; son, Sam Bartles; three sisters, Wilma, Mae and Faye and one brother, Darrell. He is survived by his wife, Margy of Shenandoah, Iowa; son, Mike Bartles and wife Pam of Shenandoah, Iowa; daughter, Joy and husband Steve Ritnour of Red Oak, Iowa; three grandchildren, Sarah, Jeff and Jasi; brother, Wendell Bartles of Red Oak, IA; other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2008, at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. Words of comfort were given by Rev. Karen Bash. Memorials are being directed to the family. The Hackett-Livingston was in charge of the arrangements.
