Mrs. Finley passed away at the Garden View Care Center late Friday morning, October 2, 2009.
Memorials may be directed to the Northboro United Methodist Church or to the Locust Grove Methodist Church.
Evelyn Elaine Finley was born on November 3, 1919 in Northboro, Iowa, the daughter of William and Lillie Lois (Peterson) Gell. Elaine entered into eternal peace on Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah.
Elaine spent her early years in the Shenandoah and Northboro area. She attended school in Northboro and graduated from Northboro High School with the Class of 1937. On September 20, 1939 she was united in marriage to Duane Finley in Omaha, Nebraska.
During her working years she was employed as a nurses aide at Grape Community Hospital for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Northboro, the United Methodist Women, and the Neighborhood Club. Some of her interests included shopping, visiting with family and friends, and dancing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Duane, and three brothers Elmer, Elton, and Everette.
Those left to honor her memory include her sister-in-laws Jackie Gell of Baltimore, MD, Anita Gell of Sioux City, IA, Wanda Book of Shenandoah, IA, Phyllis Bloom of Shenandoah, IA, and Irma Stratton of Shenandoah, IA, a brother-in-law Galen Finley of Mesa, AZ, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
