Eileen Dinville

Janice Eileen Dinville, daughter of Averil Z. Thomas and Mae (Bogard) Thomas, was born on September 23, 1923, at Avoca, Nebraska. She passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2007, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 83.
Eileen's early life was spent in Kansas and Lincoln, Nebraska, before the family moved to Shenandoah, Iowa. Eileen received her education in the Shenandoah Schools, graduating from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1941. On April 7, 1948, Eileen was united in marriage to Joseph Dinville at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shenandoah. Following their marriage they made their home in Shenandoah until moving to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1961. They resided in Minneapolis until moving back to Shenandoah in 1983. Eileen worked at Tidy House in Shenandoah, Pillsbury and the Carlson Co. in Minneapolis and was secretary for Jay Trust until 2001. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Guild, Shenandoah American Legion Auxiliary and helped with the reading program at Iowa Western Community College. Eileen enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, dancing and her loyal friend Ruth.

Preceding Eileen in death were her parents; sister, Nadine Kelsey; and infant daughter, Katey Jo Dinville. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Joseph Dinville of Shenandoah, IA; 22 nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tony and Elaine Dinville of Shenandoah, IA, Irma Dinville of Randolph, IA, and Mary Dinville of Red Oak, IA; other relatives and many friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2007, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shenandoah. Celebrant was the Rev. Vern Smith. Lector was Susan Dinville. Organist was Mary Beth Gowing and song leader was Sue Hanna. Attending the memory register were Geraldine Laughlin and Helen Lewis. Ushers were Greg Dinville and Pat Dinville. Honorary casket bearers were Marty Dinville, Marvin Dinville, Jerry Dinville, James Dinville, Tony Dinville, Andrew Dinville and Duane Dinville. Casket bearers were Kent Kelsey, Steve Dinville, Joe Dinville, Mike Dinville, Tom Dinville and Rod Dinville. Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah was in charge of the arrangements.
