Obituary

Edward "Eddie" Lee Bancroft, the son of Harold Edward and Martha Lee (Oldham) Bancroft, was born April 8th, 1960 in Shenandoah, Iowa. Eddie passed away, surrounded by family, on Sunday May 1st, 2016 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He was 56 years old.

His early life was spent between the communities of Shenandoah and Essex. He attended Shenandoah Community Schools and graduated with the class of 1978. He then made his home in Shenandoah. Eddie worked for Mount Arbor Nurseries, Hardees, and Burger King before dedicating the last 21 years to Wal-Mart in Shenandoah. He last attended church at the Faith Covenant Church in Essex, IA.

Eddie was well known in the community for many things. He always had a positive attitude and a smile on his face. He was often described as having a big heart and always putting others first. He loved playing bingo at the local Eagles Club, churches, or during community events. He had a love for cooking; his famous noodles, banana bread, and chocolate desert pie were always the requested favorites. Eddie also had a passion for collecting angels.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents Richard Oldham and Blanch (Oldham) Roach; aunts Lois Bright and Betty Bright; uncles John Oldham and Arthur Oldham; step-grandfather Elmer Roach; cousin Vicky Bright and cousin Ricky Bright

Those left to cherish his memory include his parents Harold and Martha Bancroft of Essex; sisters Sherry Bales and husband Pete of Essex, Sandy Bancroft of Essex, and Shelia McCoy and husband Ben of Shenandoah; nephews Tyler McCoy of Shenandoah, Zac McCoy of Ft. Dodge, Iowa and Kyle Bancroft and wife Katelyn of Shenandoah, niece Kayla Bales of Essex, great niece Madelyn Bancroft and great nephew Jace Bancroft both of Shenandoah and many cousins and loving friends.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Burials was held at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah, Iowa.
