Obituary

Edward Lee Huntsman, son of Clarence "Scotty" and Beulah (Brown) Huntsman, was born on November 19, 1929, in Shenandoah, Iowa. He passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at the Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah at the age of 78.

Growing up in Shenandoah, Ed attended the Shenandoah Community Schools. He graduated from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1947. Following graduation, he attended barber college. Upon completion of barber college he embarked on a long career of barbering over 50 years with most or all of it spent at Andy's Barber Shop in Shenandoah.

On August 21, 1950, Ed was united in marriage to Florence Anna Soave by the Justice of the Peace in Clarinda, Iowa. They made their home in Shenandoah following their marriage. To this union was born one son, Mark Huntsman. Ed enjoyed pets of all kinds, especially dogs. Also of enjoyment to Ed was fishing and riding around in his red convertible.

Preceding Ed in death were his father and beloved wife, Florence. Survivors include his son, Mark Huntsman, mother, Beulah Huntsman, sister, Clara Huntsman, and brother, Junior Huntsman, all of Shenandoah; and one granddaughter, Joanie Adams, of Texas; other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services were held on Wednesday morning, April 2, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. The Rev. Jo Anne Johnson gave the words of comfort. Casket bearers were Mark Huntsman, Mike Bartles, Randy Messenger, Dave Roberts, Tony Roberts and Dave Spangler. Memorials are being directed to the family. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
